Heavy rainfall from #CarinaPH has led to severe flooding in La Union, displacing nearly 60 families.
The strong water flow from Aringay River has resulted in flooding in several areas in La Union.
On July 23, motorists faced difficulty navigating the National Highway in Pugo due to high water levels, prompting many to seek alternative routes.
Some roads, including the Aringay-Tubao Road, were covered in thick mud from mudslides.
Parts of an ongoing river wall project collapsed and were swept away by floodwaters.
According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), water levels reached up to three meters on July 23 due to the heavy rains.
As of 5 a.m. of July 24, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported that 162 families have been affected by #CarinaPH.
Out of these, 58 families have been evacuated to emergency centers. The provincial government distributed relief packs to affected residents.
Every life counts, every response matters," Rowan Joshua Dimaculangan, La Union Provincial Information Officer, said.
Residents in coastal areas are advised to prepare as water level at the river may rise again.
