The mayor of a town in the Province of Negros Occidental expressed readiness to undergo a lifestyle check.

Mayor Rhummyla Nicor Mangilimutan of the Municipality of La Castella made the statement, during a press conference on August 6, 2024, as a reply to a case filed against her at the Ombudsman for alleged graft and corruption.

The case was filed by Elvin de la Fuente, a former casual employee of the Local Government Unit of La Castellana.

De la Fuente accused Mangilimutan of using government funds for the salaries of alleged ghost employees.

Mangilimutan shrugged off the accusation saying that the filing of a complaint against her is “politically motivated.”

However, De la Fuente is not convinced at Mangilimutan’s answer given during the presscon.

He said that the answer is far from the issue.

“Layo kaayo ang iya ginasabat. Kag puro kaayuhan lang ang iya ginahambal. Like sina, sa mga ghost employee kay isa ina sa gin-file ko sa iya sa Ombudsman,” De la Fuente said.
