Five people were killed in a road crash involving a motorcycle, a mini dump truck, and a pickup truck in Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental.
Based on initial investigation, the motorcycle and the mini dump truck loaded with coconut husks were travelling in the same direction while the pickup truck was travelling in the opposite direction.
Police said the pickup truck was reportedly running at high speed and the driver was believed to be under the influence of alcohol.
Upon reaching the place of the incident, the pickup truck reportedly overshot at the curved part of the road and encroached into the opposite lane. It then hit the motorcycle and the dump truck.
Because of the impact, the motorcycle rider, her cousin, and the two passengers of the dump truck died on the spot. The driver of the dump truck was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The driver of the pickup truck was also brought to the hospital and reportedly underwent surgery.
Police has filed charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and damage to properties against the driver of the pickup truck.
