The Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) of Cagayan de Oro has released up to 300 “bao-bao” or tricabs that were confiscated during operations.
Cagayan de City Mayor Rolando Uy has ordered the release of the seized tricabs during a meeting with tricab operators on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
RTA Spokesperson, James Andrade, said operators who want to claim their units must present proper documents.
“Aside sa humanitarian consideration nga atong gitan-aw mga pipila napud ang mga operator and drivers ang mihangyo labi na sa atong buhatan sa City Mayor,” RTA Spokesperson, James Andrade, said.
On Friday, August 9, tricab operators trooped to the RTA office to claim their units.
“Bisan tuod na-staggard ang among unit ma-release siya nga papel lang ang lihukon. Pasalamat jud mi isip mga lumulupyo sa syudad,” Maria Fe Bagtong, one of the tricab operators, said.
In 2024, RTA personnel launched several operations against tricabs that were prohibited to ply on the national highway based on Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) memorandum.
RTA remind the tricab operators that the operation and law enforcement will continue.
