A 10-wheel truck plowed into 29 vehicles reportedly in Ivisan town, Province of Capiz at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
Of the nine victims, one is already confirmed dead while one is in critical condition, according to Police Major Ruby Magallanes, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Ivisan.
Based on initial investigation of Ivisan PNP, the driver lost control of the vehicle after the truck's brakes malfunctioned allegedly.
The vehicles that were hit include a tricycle, a car, a motorcycle, trisikad (three-wheel passenger vehicle on pedals), pick-up truck, among others.
Magallanes said that the truck is loaded with hardware supply and construction materials bound for Kalibo town in the Province of Aklan from Iloilo.
The driver is now under the custody of the Ivisan PNP and is to face multiple charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, damage to property, and multiple physical injuries.
Aside from the vehicles hit, the truck also damaged reportedly a couple of establishments in the area.
