Naga City will soon offer free charging stations for electric bikes starting September 2024, addressing a common concern among riders who face battery issues while traveling.

As of August 13, 2024, there are 2,732 registered e-vehicles in the city.

Beboy Hernandez, Head of the Naga City Bike Board, shared his experience.

"Sometimes, ngaya nagmamadali ako. Pagkabanggi ngaya, nalingawan ko i-charge si e-bike. Pagmata ko, dae ko aram, dae ko palan na-charge. Kaipuhan ko na magbalik sa trabaho, walang macha-chargean," he said.

The Naga City Bike Board is launching two free charging stations for electric bikes.

The charging stations will be located near the flagpole in the City Hall grounds and at the bike parking area in Plaza Rizal.

Manolito Panoy, an e-trike owner who has been using an e-bike for three years, said he hasn't experienced running out of battery yet, but the stations will be convenient.

"Para sakuya, convenient para sa mga e-biker, kung sain ka abuton ning lowbat, pwede ka mag-charge," Panoy  said.

The charging stations may lead to the city paying for more for electricity but the Naga City Bike Board said the city will recover some of the cost with the registration fees paid by e-vehicle owners.
