A resident found a plastic container containing suspected shabu valued at around P6.8 million on the shores of Barangay Luyahan, Lian, Batangas.

The resident immediately reported the find to the barangay, which in turn, alerted the police.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) CALABARZON weighed the evidence recovered, which totaled one kilogram.

Authorities suspect that the shabu might have drifted from another area and ended up on the shores of Lian.

During a follow-up sea-borne patrol and monitoring operation, authorities also recovered a floating styrofoam with indecipherable markings.

PDEA and local police are investigating if there is any connection between the styrofoam and the shabu.

"Tinitingnan natin ang link ng narekober na styro dito sa dagat sa nakuhang shabu," PMAJ. Ferdinand Vergara, Chief of Lian Police Station, said.

"Mayroon silang — sa kasalukuyan ay hindi ma-determine kung anong ibig sabihin — mga letra na nakasulat po doon sa styro. Isa lang po ang sigurado na nagmula ito sa ibang bansa," Vergara added.

Similar markings have been seen in the northern regions of Luzon, such as Cagayan and the Ilocos region.

The evidence seized is now under the custody of PDEA CALABARZON for further investigation.

Authorities are urging residents to report suspicious substances resembling shabu to the Lian police.
