A baby girl was found dead floating in the river in Barangay Pasonanca, Zamboanga City morning on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
Residents in the area retrieved the baby and placed her inside a box.
The baby is around seven-month-old and did not have clothes on when found.
The baby was buried at a public cemetery in the area.
Barangay officials have launched an investigation to identify the parents of the baby.
The barangay chairman, Nelson Lacastesantos, advised couples who may realize they do not have the capacity to raise a child to just turn the baby in to the barangay.
“Kung dili kaya mag-anak, ihatag sa barangay. Mas maayo mag-undergo og seminar aron makabalo ang mga mama sa dapat buhaton. Pero amo gyud pangitaon kinsa ang naglabay sa baby,” he said.
