A 45-year-old woman died while her live-in partner was injured after they were shot while sleeping inside their house in Dipolog City.

The woman sustained a gunshot wound in her back with the bullet piercing through her heart. Her 65-year-old partner was hit in his chest and is now recuperating in the hospital.

Police said the couple lived in a small house by the road that did not have a door.

“Ang ilang balay, gamay ra gyud kaayo, naa ra gyud sila natulog, sa papag lang, then walay pultahan ug kilid ra gyud siya sa dalan mismo. Maagian ra sila while natulog. Ang nakataklob ra gyud sa ila, ang lamesa lang,” Dipolog Police Station Chief, Lt. Col. Edwin Verzon, said.

Police are looking into personal grudge that may be connected to the illegal drugs trade, as possible motive in the shooting.

Authorities said the victims and the suspect know each other.

Police are waiting for the arrest warrant against the suspect, as of this writing.

The suspect may face murder and frustrated murder charges.

“Kani, klaro man gyud nga murder ang iyang gihimo. Identified na siya. Moabot ra ang panahon nga atubangon niya ang iyang kaso,” Verzon added.
