A cat named "Hasbas" in Tabaco City was killed with an arrow, prompting outrage from its owner and animal rights advocates.

Cindy Talavera described Hasbas as affectionate and clingy. She found Hasbas outside her home, weak, and with the arrow lodged in its body.

Talavera saw Hasbas last a day before the incident. When Hasbas was found, it was already in critical condition.

The cat was taken to a veterinary clinic but was pronounced dead shortly after.

Ednalyn Cristo, Head Volunteer at Tabaco Animal Rescue and Adoption (TAARA), said the arrow had penetrated deeply and affected the cat's internal organs, leaving little chance for survival.

Animal rights advocates have condemned the act of violence strongly.

The group and Talavera are committed to pursuing legal action and filing a complaint for clear violations of the Animal Welfare Act.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the person responsible.
