A family in Sual, Pangasinan claimed half the body of a man they believed to be that of their family member. The body was found on the shore in Burgos on August 4, 2024.

The family even held a wake for two nights and buried the body on August 7, 2024.

This was why residents of Barangay Seselangen were surprised and terrified after the man whose body the family supposedly buried surfaced all of a sudden.

The man, Eduardo Gille, Sr., said he left on August 1, 2024, after he and his wife had a misunderstanding.

“Multo, multo sabi nila sa akin. Sabi nila bakit ka nabuhay, e inilibing ka na bakit ka nabuhay? Sabi ko binigyan pa ako ng Panginoon na mabuhay. Hindi ako patay sabi ko,” Eduardo said.

His wife, Lydia, really thought the body found was that of Eduardo.

“Akala ko kasi talagang patay na kasi lahat ng paa niya at may allergic, may allergic din ‘yun kaya talagang sabi ko siya,” she said.

Eduardo’s family is glad he is alive but also could not help but feel sad for the money they spent for the wrong person.

Fortunately, they are yet to register Eduardo’s death at the municipal hall.

Police said two families from Dasol and Zambales have claimed the body buried at the cemetery.

However, authorities will conduct DNA testing to determine the real family of the deceased.

“Ganito ang ginawa naming action taken. Bale, kumuha kami ng bone marrow sample mula sa cadaver at sinubmit sa Provincial forensic unit. ‘Yung dalawang claimant, they will subjected to be DNA analysis,” said PCPT. Ramil Castro, Officer-in-Charge of the Burgos Police Station.
