A decomposing body of a person was found at a grassy area in Barangay Tugbungan, Zamboanga City evening on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

It is yet to be determined whether the body is that of a man or a woman, as of this writing.

Police said the head was covered with plastic while the body was covered with a blanket.

Authorities believed that the victim was killed first before getting disposed of at the area.

“May nakabalot na cellophane sa ulo and also nakawrap din ng kumot itong katawan niya and nakalutang nga ito sa may swamp area,” Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Paul Andrew Cortes, said.

Investigators are waiting for the autopsy results to determine if the body sustained stab or gunshot wounds.

Those who may have knowledge of the incident and identity of the victim have been urged to come forward and reach out to authorities.

“Kami po ay nanawagan din sa ating mga kababayan na kung may mga nakita sila regarding dito sa insidente makipagtulungan na lang din sa amin,” Cortes said.
