A truck carrying around 70 pigs was caught at an animal checkpoint in Tiaong, Quezon, with fake documents.
The checkpoint is part of an effort to prevent African Swine Fever (ASF) by inspecting large vehicles.
Authorities discovered that the documents presented by the truck driver, including the veterinary health certificate, shipping permit, animal inspection certificate, and ASF-free status certificate, were fake.
The truck, which was reportedly traveling to Bulacan from Candelaria, Quezon, was abandoned by the driver during the inspection.
The police are still searching for the driver, who faces legal complaints.
Livestock checkpoints are being set up across various locations to control the spread of ASF in Quezon and other provinces.
