Police in Ibaan seized two L300 vans transporting 25 pigs at an animal checkpoint as part of a crackdown on African Swine Fever (ASF) spread.
The vans were sent back immediately to San Juan and Padre Garcia where the pigs are believed to have originated.
According to the police, the pigs were intended to be transported to Laguna and Cavite.
Solomon advised hog haulers to present the following documents when transporting pigs into or out of the province:
- Veterinary Health Certificate,
- Animal Inspection Certificate,
- Shipping Permit,
- Disease-Free Status ng ASF or Recognition of Active Surveillance,
- Disinfection Stub,
- Handler License,
- Transport Carrier; and,
- Registration Traders Pass.
Following this incident, the Batangas police intensified its animal checkpoint operations to deter illegal hog haulers.
The Batangas Provincial Veterinary are yet to release the latest ASF data in the province.
