Nine propsmen of Compostela town’s contingent in the “Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2024” are determined to sue a policeman who assailed them. 

Personnel of Police Station 9 in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City are preparing the appropriate charges against the cop. 

Four of the victims are found to be minors. 

Police Lt. Col. Janette Rafter, deputy city director for administration of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said that the parents of the minors are determined to pursue a case for physical injuries and child abuse against the police. 

The suspect was arrested and detained at Police Station 9. He refused an interview. 

The policeman was caught on CCTV camera hitting the propsmen on August 24, 2024 at the billeting area of the Compostela contingent in Guadalupe Elementary School, Cebu City.

Based on initial information released by the authorities, the choreographer of the contingent sought help from detailed members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) for an orderly formation in relation to a dance rehearsal inside the gym. 

The policeman came supposedly to help, but struck the hands of propsmen instead using an undetermined object. 

The Local Government Unit of Compostela has assured intervention for the nine victims and support to the filing of charges against the policeman.
