Several houses were damaged and more than 20 trees fell due to strong winds and heavy rains in Isabela City, Basilan.
According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), more than 20 trees have fallen, one house collapsed, and a boat reportedly capsized, as of 12 noon on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
On the same day, around 10 stilt houses along the coastal areas in Barangay Panigayan were also damaged by strong winds. These areas were Purok Kasanyangan, Purok Rahman, and Purok Sumping.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has provided immediate assistance to at least 14 families affected.
In Barangay Maligue, several trees fell in Purok 7, 4, 3, 1, and 6. No one was reported hurt but a waiting shed and a house were damaged.
Meanwhile, five houses were destroyed while two others were damaged in Barangay Tampalan after being battered by strong waves.
Some houses were also damaged in Barangay Diki due to severe weather conditions.
Another house was also damaged after it was hit by a gemelina tree that fell in Barangay Sunrise.
No one was hurt in the incident.
On Sunday, September 15, the local government provided family food packs, sleeping kits, and hygiene kits to families whose houses were damaged to heavy rains and strong winds in Barangay Lanote, La Piedad, Sunrise, and Begang.
