Clearing operations continue as nearly two kilometers of the Binloc Baywalk in Barangay Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City was damaged by a storm surge brought by Severe Tropical Storm #KristinePH.

The surge cracked and weakened the baywalk’s cement structure, which serves as an access road for residents to nearby sitios.

“Medyo natakot kami kasi malakas ang tubig at saka hangin,” Rodrigo Torio, a resident, described the ordeal.

“Umaga ng Huwebes (October 24, 2024), naglagay na ng barrier ang barangay na ‘Do Not Enter.’ Kasi malalaki na yung alon at saka yung hangin, tapos gumuho na rin yung baywalk,” Angelita Macalit, another resident, added.

The barangay council has reported the incident to the local government.

“Nai-report namin, tapos collective minds kung ano magandang gawin ng barangay, then continuous kaming nagpapaiikot sa mga sitios or baywalk,” Barangay Councilman Joseph Gutierrez said.
