Starting November 7, 2024, workers in Region 1 will receive a P33 increase in their daily wage, following Wage Order No. RB 1-23 issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board.
While some business owners admit that profit margins are tight, they say they have no choice but to comply with the wage hike.
"We can do nothing but to follow… that’s the [order] ng government. This is not the first time naini-increase [’yung daily wage],” Jaime Dy, a business owner, said.
The increase is welcomed by many workers who say their current wage fall short of covering daily needs.
"Kasi kung hindi po itaas po iyan, kawawa naman po ‘yung mga empleyado na sa pang-araw-araw po nila ay tumataas ‘yung mga bilihin po,” Anthony Flores, a worker, said.
The wage hike aims to help employees manage rising costs of daily needs.
