Two died while one was injured in separate accidents involving motorcycles in Pangasinan and Ilocos Norte.
In Mangaldan, Pangasinan, grief and regret engulfed Jinky Cervas, Sr. after his son died in the accident while driving his way home dawn on December 10, 2024.
Cervas said he was reluctant to let his son go out with friends evening on December 9 but he let him, anyway.
Hours later at 3 a.m., after a drinking with friends, Jinky Cervas, Jr. figured in the accident.
"Malungkot, masakit ang mamatayan ng anak, umalis siya dito buhay na buhay pa tapos mabalitaan namin patay na," Cervas Sr. said.
According to police, the young man lost control of his motorcycle and collided with another bike.
PCapt. Hernando Martinez, duty officer at the Mangaldan Police Station, said the victim entered into the opposite lane, causing the collision.
"Nag-enroach siya ng lane kaya nasalpok nang isa," Martinez said.
Both riders were rushed to the hospital, but Cervas’ son was declared dead on arrival.
The other rider remains in critical condition, as of this writing.
LAOAG ACCIDENT
Meanwhile, another fatal motorcycle accident occurred in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte around 6 a.m., also on December 10.
A 21-year-old rider, identified as Chyrusz Aboluyan, died after losing control of his bike while navigating a curve on the road in Barangay 29.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
