The City of Bago in the Province of Negros Occidental has declared a state of calamity on Monday, December 16, 2024.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod has approved a resolution that recommended to place Bago City under a state of calamity.
The declaration allows the city government to utilize the Quick Response Fund (QRF) of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to address concerns following the phreatic eruption of Kanlaon Volcano on December 9, 2024.
Bago City is one of the local government units in the province affected heavily by the effects of the eruption and the ongoing forced evacuation of residents living within the six-kilometer-radius permanent danger zone.
