Psychological abuse is the leading act of violence perpetrated against women in General Santos City, according to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
From January 1 to June 30, 2024 alone, up to 321 cases of abuses were committed against women between 19 years old to 59-years old.
Of this number, most cases involved psychological abuse with 129, followed by physical abuse with 98, and economic abuse with 86.
Barangay Fatima has the most number of violence cases with 42.

No case of sexual abuse and trafficking were recorded.
Authorities urged the public to report incidents of abuses and any form of violence to protect women and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Pinakabest po is i- exert po ang right nila as tao, as babae, pangalawa pagmakaranas sila ng pan-abuso magsumbong magreport, wag pong manahimik, wag pong matakot,” City Population Management Office Population Program Officer III, Alvin Catolico, said.
