In the streets, revelers arrive from different locations accross the Philippines, as well as from the Filipino communities abroad.
The Grand Parade is back to its original venues in the city proper. Contingents dance in the major streets in Cebu City and will compete in the ritual showdown at the Cebu City Sports Center.
For at least two years in 2023 and 2024, the Grand Parade was held at the South Road Properties (SRP) during the leadership of Mayor Michael Rama.
The new mayor, Raymond Alvin Garcia, moved the event back to the city proper for 2025.
As he opened the event formally at the sports center, Garcia also announced that classes in all levels in both public and private schools in the city are cancelled on January 20, 2025.
