The Provincial Government of Davao Oriental has deputized the police and military to arrest people involved in illegal mining and sand and gravel extractions in the province.

The province-wide deputation training was held at the 701st Infantry Brigade in Mati City and was participated by representatives of local government units in the province, and military and police personnel.

Different laws and policies about environmental protection and preservation were discussed during the orientation.

The activity aims to strengthen measures and implementation of environmental laws and prevent illegal mining activities and sand and gravel operations.

“As Governor of this province, usa lang kini ka posisyon, apan dili layo ang atong distansya sa matag usa. Dako akong pasalamat sa atong kapulisan ug kasundaluhan tungod kay aduna moy kritikal nga papel sa pagpanalipod sa atong peace and order, ug sa pagpreserbar sa atong kinaiyahan," Governor Niño Uy was quoted as saying.
