The Department of Public Works and Highways Southern Leyte 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) announced of roads affected by the magnitude 5.8 earthquake that jolted   San Francisco town in the Province of Southern Leyte morning on January 23, 2025. 

“Please traverse on the following road sections/areas with extra caution,” DPWH Southern Leyte 2nd DEO said. 

The affected roads are:

Daang Maharlika Road:

1. Brgy. Amaga, Liloan, Southern Leyte (K1051+450) (LS) – major rockfall

Status: Right lane is passable to all types of vehicles;

2. Brgy. Himay-angan, Liloan, Southern Leyte (K1049+350 BL) – slab cracking

Status: Passable to all types of vehicles;

3. Libagon-Liloan Section, Liloan, Southern Leyte (K1049+370) – slab cracking

Status: Outer right lane is passable;

4. Libagon-Liloan Section, Liloan, Southern Leyte (K1049+300) – slab cracking

Status: Outer left lane and right lane are passable;

5. Libagon-Liloan Section, Liloan, Southern Leyte (K1052+090 BL) - transverse crack

Status: Passable to all types of vehicles;

 

Liloan-San Ricardo Road:

1. Brgy. Sudmon, San Francisco, Southern Leyte (K1060+850) BL – slab cracking 

Status: Passable to all types of vehicles;

2. Brgy. Sitio Cawi, San Francisco, Southern Leyte (K1062+650) BL – transverse crack

Status: Passable to all types of vehicles;

3. Brgy. Sitio Cawi, San Francisco, Southern Leyte (K1062+750) LL – transverse crack

Status: Right lane is passable to all types of vehicles

4. San Francisco-San Ricardo Section, Liloan, Southern Leyte (K1066+380) BL - slab cracking

Status: Passable to all types of vehicles;

 

Liloan Bridge

(K1054+580 RL) – detachment of cross bracing

Status: Left lane of the bridge is passable but with a limit of 10 tons only.

 

As of this writing, the DPWH Southern Leyte 2nd DEO is continuously monitoring the road conditions. 

Road safety warning signs and devices have also been installed at the affected sites.

While these roads are passable, the office reminds the traveling public to traverse these roads with extra caution for everyone’s safety.
