High meat prices have persisted in Mangaldan, Pangasinan with pork now costing P380 per kilo and chicken reaching P220 per kilo.

Yolly De Vera, a resident of Barangay Embarcadero, bought half a kilo of pork for lunch. Despite the price hike, she finds it manageable.

“Pang-ulam... sinigang... okay naman [ang presyo],” she said.

Vendors have been noticing the price increase for over a week. They attribute the increase to rising transportation costs, with pork supplies coming from Bicol and chicken from Bulacan.

“Sa taas ng gasolina, apektado ang benta. Binabiyahe kasi, eh,” Valentine Paulino, a meat vendor, said.

Pork prices have gone up to P380 from P340-P350 per kilo while chicken prices jumped to P220 per kilo from P200 per kilo.

Despite the higher prices, vendors assure the public that supply remains sufficient.
