A tricycle driver died while two others were injured after a passenger jeepney hit and dragged the tricycle towards a canal in Polomolok, South Cotabato.

Responders rescued the tricycle driver, jeepney driver, and a female passenger of the jeep.

The tricycle driver died in the hospital due to severe injuries.

Police said the jeepney was heading to Tupi town when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and jumped out of the jeepney.

The jeepney then plowed through the tricycle that was parked by the road.

“Upon approaching yung intersection, nag-try na mag menor but yung driver napansin na walang brake yung jeep, ang ginawa is tumalon from the jeep at dahil wala ng maniobra doon sa jeep dumeretso doon sa kanal but doon sa pagdederecho niya sa kanal nahagip niya ang isang naka-park na tricycle,” Polomolok Municipal Police Station Chief, Lt. Col. Peter Pinalgan, said.

Authorities advised motorists anew to check the vehicle first before traveling.

“Dapat talaga before we travel, i-double check  ang ating mga sasakyan , dapat kondisyon especially when traversing national highways or crowded places para makaiwas tayo ng aksidente,” Pinalgan added.
