A man who tried to save his carabao drowned after he was carried away by floodwaters in Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the 62-year-old man was seen last drinking at a store in Barangay Cadaatan on Saturday, based on initial investigation.
Investigators said the man left the store and went to the river to rescue the carabao he had tethered in the area.
However, the man was reportedly carried away by strong current and drowned.
He was found lifeless with his head, hands, and feet buried in the ground the next day.
Police found no indication of foul play.
