A father hacked to death his live-in partner and two of their three children in Barangay Lutac, City of Naga, Cebu on Monday, January 27, 2025.

The bodies of the three persons that sustained hack wounds on the nape and neck were found inside their residence in Sitio Kamanggahan, Barangay Lutac.

The hacking incident happened past 10 a.m.

The woman was identified as Junelyn Gimenez, 32 years old, mother of the two children ages 11 years old and two years old.

The other child, seven years old, was at school when the incident happened.

The 11-year-old boy did not go to school that day reportedly because of toothache.

Gimenez was found inside the room with her two-year-old child, while the body of the 11-year-old boy was found slumped on a chair near a dining table.

The suspect was identified as Gimenez’ live-in partner, 33-year-old Carlo Camporedondo, father of the children.

Camporedondo who sells young coconuts for a living on the streets of Cebu City used the same machete, to cut open the coconuts, in hacking to death Gimenez and their children.

It was learned that the suspect would have hacked the grandmother of the children but the woman was able to run away.

The suspect told reportedly the grandfather of the children that Gimenez and the children are dead before he fled the area.

According to Gimenez’ sibling, they had earlier advised their sister to break up with Camporedondo the soonest, after the suspect exhibited violent behavior in 2024.

Gimenez’ sibling said that Camporedondo is an illegal drugs user.

Further, it was disclosed that the 11-year-old victim had already told his relatives that every time his father and mother had a fight, Camporedondo would threaten to kill them. Neighbors said though, that prior to the incident, they have not heard of any argument between the two or commotion. Neither was there any call or scream asking for help.

Police Staff Sergeant Ariel Yap, investigator at City of Naga Police Station, said they are looking into the possibility that the suspect could have been high on illegal drugs while perpetrating the crime.

Members of Gimenez’ family are crying out for justice in the brutal killing of their sister and her children.

As of this writing, the suspect was already arrested in a hot pursuit operation, and with the help of barangay tanods (village watchmen) past 4 p.m. on January 27, 2025.

Charges for multiple murder will be filed against the suspect.
