After nearly a decade, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Dagupan City has started distributing replacement plates for vehicles registered in 2015, urging owners to claim them immediately.

The LTO Dagupan City District Office has received over 5,000 plates as part of the nationwide rollout under the 'Oplan Plaka Mo, Deliver Ko' program.

“Ito ‘yung mga plaka pa noong 2015, matagal na rin ‘yan sa office. Although may mga dumarating pa kasi from central office, ito ‘yung mga motorized vehicle one hanggang zero,” LTO-Dagupan Head Romel Dawaton said.

The replacement plates are part of the Motor Vehicle License Plates Standardization Program, mandated in Memorandum Circular No. AVT-1895 issued on December 11, 2014.

The program required all four-wheeled vehicles renewing registration to apply for standardized replacement plates.

However, due to production delays, these plates are only arriving now.

Motorists like Ronald Cabargon welcome the development. He said having a plate helps them avoid issues at checkpoints

“Hinahanap talaga din kasi ‘yan sa mga checkpoint,” he added.

LTO is calling on vehicle owners who paid for their plates in 2015 to visit their office and claim them.

“This January nag-start kami pero sana kunin na lang nila dito,” Dawaton said.

Vehicle owners must bring their receipts to claim their plates.
