At least eight families were displaced after a fire hit a residential area in Barangay Centro, Agdao, Davao City morning on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
According to a resident, the fire started from a house behind the chapel.
“Kalayo na pero gamay-gamay pan gud to unya kusog man kaayo ang hangin. So, karon nanawag ko diri sa sulod sa brgy. unya naa namay mga tao, unya nanawag na sila og bombero,” a resident said.
The fire spread quickly to houses nearby as most of the houses affected were made of light materials. The wind was also strong at that time.
Barangay officials have already attended to the needs of the affected families.
“Giandam na namo na, daghan man tag kapahimutangan pud sila ilaha dinhi, atong barangay facilities bga pwedeng pahimutangan nila diri. Amo nasab gipahiluna og unsay ilahang maakomodar ang ilahang pagkaon,” Barangay Chairman Rene Estorpe said.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is still looking into the cause of the fire and the cost of damage.
