Davao City has logged its first fatality from dengue in January 2025, according to the Tropical Diseases Division of the Davao City Health Office (CHO).
The fatality was a resident of Kidapawan City who went to Davao City for a vacation in December 2024.
CHO is still investigating the case.
From January 1 to 15, 2025, the number of dengue cases in the city reached 140 cases, which was 37 percent lower than the 225 cases recorded in the same period in 2024.
Health authorities reminded the public anew to follow preventive control measures and practice the 5S habit against dengue: Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites; self-protection like using insect repellents; seek early consultation; support fogging, spraying, and misting in hot spot areas; and sustain hydration.
