Six persons, of minor ages, were rescued by personnel of San Remigio Police Station in northern Cebu Province.

The six girls were found to be residents of Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City who were reportedly tagged along by a 45-year-old Australian national for an island-hopping activity on February 4, 2025.

The Australian and the six girls were headed for Bantayan Island but tourist police at Hagnaya Port in the Municipality of San Remigio put them on hold and turned them over to the San Remigio Police Station.

The Australian national failed to present his passport. It was further learned that he has a previous case involving exploitation of young girls.

The foreigner was arrested and, as of this writing, is set to face charges for violation of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
