A fracas involving about 20 youngsters in Barangay San Nicolas Proper, Cebu City was caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera.
The commotion happened along Lakandula Street, based on a CCTV footage taken at the barangay monitoring center.
The incident at 1 a.m. on February 6, 2025 was reportedly about a girl, based on one of the young boys involved in the commotion.
A group of boys was seen to have been walking casually but yelling at persons from a distance. After which they started running, picking up objects, and hurling at another group of youngsters who fought back by doing the same.
GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak chanced upon a few of the boys involved. One of them is 17-year-old “Luis” (true name withheld).
Luis narrated that there were ten of them, while there were also ten boys from the other group. The tension started when a girl, believed to be a girlfriend of a member of the other group, hanged out with them.
Luis said that the girl's boyfriend in jealous fit started the fracas.
The boys traded barbs that led to the hurling of bottles and rocks.
No one among them was reported injured. No residents or passersby was reported hurt in the incident.
However, the fracas raised worry over a repeat of the incident that could possibly hurt innocent residents and passersby.
To avert a similar incident, Barangay San Nicolas Proper Chairman Clifford Jude Niñal vowed to have the parents of the boys summoned.
He also ordered barangay tanods (village watchmen) the tight monitoring of “critical areas,” in coordination with policemen.
However, when the news team took a visit to Police Station 6 at the Cebu City Police Office, the incident has not reached yet the authorities.
