Up to 232 members of the New People’s Army (NPA) have surrendered to authorities in 2024 and in the first quarter of 2025.

They were presented to Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Secretary Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo, Jr. in Mawab, Davao de Oro on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

The 111 firearms handed over by the former rebels during their surrender were also presented during the ceremony.

The 10th Infantry Division (10ID) said the surrender was a significant step towards lasting peace.

"Today's event is not only a celebration of transformation but also a call to action for all of us to strengthen our commitment to building bridges of trust and reconciliation," 10ID Commander, Major General Allan Hambala, said.

The former rebels received food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as part of the government’s support for their reintegration to society.
