At least 1,461 loose firearms and 25 explosive devices were presented to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla in his visit at the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 in Cebu City. 

Police Brigadier General Redrico Atienza Maranan presented the firearms and explosives to Remulla on February 5, 2025.

A few of the weapons with expired licenses were surrendered voluntarily, while others were seized during police operations, such as in relation to ensuring peace and order leading to the May 2025 midterm elections.

PRO 7 has again urged firearm holders to turn in unlicensed weapons to the authorities.

Meanwhile, at least 13 firearms were confiscated in Talisay City, south Cebu from January 12, 2025 to February 2, 2025 and 13 persons arrested for violation of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) gun ban.
