The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized materials used for making explosives during a buy-bust operation in Zamboanga City.
During the operation, authorities also arrested two suspects identified as alias “Arjemhar” and alias “Gamar.”
The suspects were arrested for alleged illegal possession, trade, acquisition, or disposal of explosives and explosives materials and related devices that can be used for making an improvised explosive device (IED), which can be used for terroristic attacks.
Up to 2,000 pieces of blasting caps, 2,000 pieces of improvised non-electric blasting caps, plastic bags containing alleged TNT (trinitrotoluene), and other non-explosive pieces of evidence were confiscated from the suspects.
The suspects were taken into police custody and are facing charges.
“Rest assured that your CIDG and Task Force Sanglahi Bravo is steadfast in its fight against terrorism, aggressive in catching individuals and groups who violate the letters of the Anti- Terrorism Act of 2020 and related laws, and ensure the safety and protection of the public and community against all forms of terrorism,” CIDG Director, Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III, said.
