A 17-year-old girl in Zamboanga City was rescued after a habal-habal driver allegedly tried to kidnap her.

According to authorities, the girl was supposed to go to Barangay Divisoria evening on Saturday, February 8, 2025, to buy milk tea. However, the habal-habal driver allegedly brought her somewhere else. The driver reportedly said he would get his license first before he would bring the girl to her destination.

The girl allegedly asked the driver to drop her off but the driver allegedly did not listen until they passed by authorities patrolling the area and the girl managed to shout.

“Di naman daw siya pinapansin ng driver. Mabilis na daw ang patakbo ng driver. Nung nakita na dumaan yung sasakyan namin, doon na po siya sumigaw ng tulong kaya napansin po ng personnel namin na sumisigaw siya kaya sinundan,” 1Lt. Armela Mae Ellar-Gil, officer-in-charge of 1st Marine Company (MC)- Marine Battalion Landing Team-1 (MBLT), said.

The driver allegedly abandoned the girl on the road where she was assisted by personnel of the 1MC-MBLT-1.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
