At least three classrooms of Tagadtal Integrated School in Barangay Colobe, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat were razed by fire on Monday, February 10, 2025.

Among the rooms affected was the stockroom where modules, musical instruments, chairs, and gadgets like computer and TV were stored.

Classrooms where Grade 2 and Grade 3 students attended classes were also affected.

According to a teacher, they were supposed to start the class when two students noticed the fire.

Classes were then suspended temporarily.

“Right after na nangyari ang sunog, nag-declare yung school heads namin na pauwiin na lang ang mga bata para ma ensure ang safety nila,” teacher, Teofel Cenido, said.

The fire was put out after around five minutes.

The damage to property reached around P150,000.

Authorities are still looking into the cause of the fire.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BPF) advised the school administration to check the electrical wirings and assess the structural integrity of the buildings.

“Kindly check yung electrical wirings nila sa mga certified na electrician. Tapos, magpa-assist sila sa munisipyo na i-assess din ang integrity ng building sa Office Of Building Official at saka i-practice din nila yung mga natutunan nila sa Bureau Of Fire,” BFP Palimbang Investigator, FO1 Edward Coyoca, said.
