A gubernatorial aspirant in the island-province of Guimaras, her secretary, and two members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) were snagged in an entrapment operation in Sibunag town.
Personnel of the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) 6 arrested alias “Maggie,” 65 years old, a resident of Sibunag, and her secretary identified only as “Aye,” 48 years old, from Lambunao town in the Province of Iloilo, for alleged swindling, or violation to Republic Act 10951.
Further, two PCG members, one from Dipolog City while the other is from Negros Occidental, were also arrested for alleged violation of Comelec Resolution Number 11067, or the Comelec gun ban.
The entrapment operation was carried out in Sibunag, Guimaras at around 4 p.m. on February 11, 2025.
According to Police Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 6, boodle money worth ₱400,000 was recovered from the suspects; two .45-caliber pistols were seized, live ammunition, two cellphones, and other items.
The authorities said they have investigated further as to why two members of the PCG were around during the entrapment operation.
