Removal of barriers on a bus lane along Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City within 48 hours was ordered following a series of road mishaps.

Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia ordered Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) project manager, Engr. Norvin Imbong, to have the barriers removed because of the successive vehicular accidents.

A CCTV footage showed that on February 10, 2025, at around 6 p.m., a motorcyle figured in an accident and almost hit another vehicle.

Other motorists who got snagged on the barriers were later declared out of danger.

In an ocular inspection morning on February 12, 2025, Garcia and Imbong confirmed the danger that the barriers on the bus lane pose to motorists.

To avert similar incidents, Garcia ordered the removal of the barriers within 48 hours from the time of the inspection.

The barriers will only be reinstalled once the buses are already available.

Earlier, Imbong said that the target completion of the CBRT project is set in March 2025.

However, the processing of buses to operate for CBRT is ongoing.

It was learned that CBRT Phase one alone has P1 billion available funds.

The project has three phases.
