Armed with an arrest warrant, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested an aspiring vice mayor in Iligan City for syndicated estafa charges.

CIDG-Iligan arrested Andres Visaya, Jr. as he was about to hold a political rally in Barangay Ditukanan.

The warrant was issued by a court in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

“He was about to have a rally, mag-rally unta siya and then naabtan namo siya didto so gi-serve namo siya. Actually, during the operation wala man ta’y mga hesitations, wala man ta’y resistance, hapsay man ang pag-serve he fully cooperated and then submitted himself,” CIDG-Iligan City Officer, Major Joselito Tan Jr., said.

CIDG-Iligan did not elaborate on the details of the case filed against Visaya.

“As long as naa ta’y warrant of arrest, pwede nato dakpon ang tao. Regardless of his status or unsa man kailangan nato atubangon ang korte,” Tan added.

Visaya was brought to Sultan Kudarat where he will have his day in court.

Prior to his arrest, Visaya was part of the political ticket of former Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Director, retired General Rolando Anduyan, who is running for mayor in Iligan City.

A week ago, the two were reportedly seen joining a unity walk and signing a solidarity pact for the 2025 midterm elections.

In a text message, however, Anduyan has ceased to be his running mate since 2024.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to Visaya’s camp for a statement, as of this writing.
