A man was captured on video stealing a cellular phone while the gadget was on livestreaming mode.

The cellphone was set on livestreaming mode by a staff member of a salon in Bago City, Province of Negros Occidental.

The incident on February 16, 2025 showed how the salon worker begins her day at work by cleaning up.

After 10 minutes, the worker completed her cleanup routine. She was seen transferring an electric fan. The door was also seen left ajar.

However, the salon worker did not come back to get the phone placed on a table.

A person in jersey and wearing a cap sneaked inside the salon. He picked up the cellphone and went out of the salon. But because the livestream was still working, a clear register of his face was captured.

The owner of the cellphone, alias "Jo," did not face the news team, but according to her employer, she was at the back of the salon washing when the incident happened.

“Habang naglalaba siya, inopen niya ang door namin at ang aming crystal door. Yung lalaki na dumaan, nagmasid for sure. Alam siguro ng lalaki na walang tao,”  Anne Maxinne Benedicto, the salon owner said.

The victim was surprised when she came back and found the cellphone missing.

According to the police, the suspect was identified immediately through the recorded video.

“Well, na-identify natin ang suspect. That person has several records na rin sa Bacolod City,” according to Lt. Col. Jay Malong, chief of Bago City Police Station.

Bago City Police have coordinated with other police stations for the arrest of the suspect.
