A farmer hacked and decapitated a 48-year-old man for allegedly stealing his corn in Malitbog, Bukidnon.
Based on investigation, the suspect was enraged after he allegedly caught the victim in the act of stealing his corn.
The victim was able to return home but the suspect went after him.
Using a bolo, the suspect hacked the victim several times and decapitated.
Authorities said the suspect allegedly threw the victim’s head at a grassy area around 50 meters away from the victim’s shanty where his body was discovered.
“Actually, based on the report, ang biktima aduna pa kini lain nga mga samad tinigbasan sa iyang lawas aside ato sa iyang ulo,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.
Police also recovered the bolo used by the suspect at his house.
A few hours later, the suspect turned himself in to the barangay and was then turned over to the police.
The suspect reportedly told the police that he has been furious of the victim for allegedly stealing his corn several times.
“Kasuko siguro kay for several times nakawatan na pud kini siya and at that time mao gyud iyang naaktuhan ang maong biktima nga nangawat sa iyang mais,” Navarro added.
Police said the family of the victim will no longer press charges as both parties have reportedly reached an agreement.
“Importante gihapon kayo nga dili nato ibutang ang hustisya sa atoang kamot kay naa’y at times nga agrabyado kita but because atoang gibutang ang hustisya sa atoang mga kamot pwede pud kita makasuhan in return,” Navarro said.
