Over 100 dengue cases were recorded in Bacolod City for the first five weeks of 2025.
The Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) said that dengue cases reached 124, or 96.8 percent higher compared to the same period in 2024.
In 2024, Bacolod CHO logged at least 63 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever from January to the first week of February.
The highest number was recorded in Barangay Mansilingan with 12 cases, 11 in Barangay Tangub, and 10 cases each in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Barangay Alijis, and Barangay Villamonte.
Residents in Barangay Mansilingan have started placing mosquito larvicide granules in canals and drainage ways where wrigglers (young mosquitoes) breed.
In 2024, a total of 2,617 dengue cases was recorded in Bacolod City, or 350 percent higher compared to the 574 cases recorded in 2023.
