At least four houses were razed to the ground in two separate fire incidents in Cagayan de Oro on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Three houses and a portion of an establishment were affected in the fire that broke out in Barangay Carmen.
Around six families were also displaced while the damage was estimated at more than P1.1 million.
The fire was raised to third alarm since houses in the area are tightly packed with some establishments nearby.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also said the fire spread quickly as most of the houses affected were made of light materials.
“Atong i-consider nga made of light materials so kusog gyud kayo ang pag-ulbo niya paspas naa pa gyud dili nato i-neglect ang kaning sa hangin, ang wind direction niya,” Carmen Fire Station Investigator, SFO4 Debie Mabulay, said.
No one was reported hurt in the incident.
Meanwhile, another house was gutted by fire in Barangay Iponan.
Firefighters immediately put out the fire and prevented it from spreading to other houses and a school nearby.
The cost of damage was pegged at around P54,000.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the two fire incidents.
