More than 10 families were displaced in three fire incidents in Cagayan de Oro in one day on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
According to the Nazareth Fire Station, more than 10 houses were razed by fire in Barangay Camaman-an.
Firefighters had a hard time penetrating the area because the road is narrow.
Authorities said the fire may have started from a boarding house.
“Matod pa sa atong investigator 2-storey man gud ni siya kay boarding house daw ni siya. Nagsugod dito sa boarding house,” Nazareth Fire Station Operations Chief, SFO3 Darwin Levi Quidet, said.
Damage to property was estimated at P900,000.
Residents affected are calling for assistance.
“Ang amo lang naay tabang, pagkaon, mga sanina mao gyud na ang importante gyud mga bugas, mao ra gyud na, wala na’y lain,” affected resident, Dino Flores, said.
Another fire also broke out in Barangay Carmen and was raised to second alarm.
According to the Carmen Fire Station, at least four houses were affected.
Damage to property was pegged at P300,000.
Meanwhile, a fire razed an establishment on Velez Street.
Firefighters were able to control the fire.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the three incidents, as of this writing.
