Work schedule of officials and employees in all ministries, offices, and agencies in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will be modified during the observance of the holy month of Ramadan, the Bangsamoro government announced on Friday, February 28, 2025.
The Office of the Chief Minister issued a memorandum adjusting the regular working hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
“This adjustment aims to accommodate the religious practices of Muslim employees while ensuring compliance with the required 40-hour workweek under civil service regulations,” the Bangsamoro Information Office said.
The modified working schedule will take effect from the first day of Ramadan.
Regular working hours will be reverted after Eid’t Fitr or the festival that marks the end of Ramadan.
Ramadan is the holy Islamic month where Muslim brothers and sisters fast and pray from dawn until sunset. It is also a time for spiritual reflection and strengthening of faith and self-discipline.
A moon sighting has been scheduled on Friday, February 28, to determine the start of the Ramadan.
The Bangsamoro government said if the moon will be sighted on the night of February 28, Ramadan will start on March 1.
