The heat index in Dagupan City soared to 42°C on March 3, 2025, the highest temperature recorded in the city and the Philippines, so far, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The highest heat index recorded by PAGASA annually in Dagupan City since 2019:
- April 9, 2019 - 51°C
- May 5, 2020 - 50°C
- May 14, 2021 - 53°C
- April 22, 2022 - 54°C
- April 19, 2023 - 47°C
- April 29, 2024 - 51°C
The heat index is expected to go up further in the coming days.
“Nasa danger category tayo kahapon at saka ngayong araw,” Engr. Jose Estrada Jr., Chief Meteorological Officer of PAGASA Dagupan Station, said on March 3, 2025.
Aside from Dagupan City, other areas, especially coastal communities, are likely to experience higher heat indices due to the influence of sea surface temperatures.
“Sa darating na mga araw iinit pa kaya talagang dapat maingat kami,” Vicky Coloma, a resident near the coast, said.
PAGASA is also expected to declare the official start of the dry season this week.
“Ramdam na kasi at saka pasok na sa mga parameters,” Estrada said.
