There is reportedly no record in the barangay of any attacks on chickens in a game farm in Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia town, Negros Occidental where a dog named “Tiktok” suffered from animal cruelty.

Tiktok sustained wounds from five improvised darts stuck in its body.

The barangay will have certain residents in Sitio Puyas and caretakers of a game farm summoned.

“Ang panawagan ko sa farm owner, manok o hayop, ipaalam sa barangay upang magawan ng aksyon,” Barangay Chairman Allan Martinez said.

According to Nilo Italia, focal person for the barangay veterinary program of the Local Government Unit of Murcia, they are monitoring closely the possibility that Tiktok could have gone astray inside the game farm and eaten the feeds.

“Hindi maiiwasan na ang mga hayop, aso, pumupunta sa mga pagkain. Ang feeds kinakain rin ng aso,” Italia pointed out.

Other dog owners in Barangay Blumentritt expressed worry that their pets could also suffer from animal cruelty.

A dog owner said it is hard to believe that Tiktok attacked chickens.

“Kung kumakain ng manok, sana kinain na rin ang mga manok namin dito,” Corazon de la Cruz, a dog owner, said.

The police have assured that security in the barangay is monitored closely. However, they also asked the cooperation of the community.

Tiktok is recuperating from the wounds sustained from the five sling-launched darts referred to locally as “indyan panâ.”

Tiktok is set to stay at a rescue center in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City for its safety.
