Two policemen were injured while responding to reports of three suspects discharging their firearms illegally in Barangay Bocboc in Don Carlos, Bukidnon.
The Don Carlos Municipal Police Station deployed a team to investigate when the team was allegedly fired upon by the suspects.
The two police officers were hit and rushed to the hospital. They are in stable condition, as of this writing.
Two suspects were arrested while attempting to escape. The third suspect was arrested at a rubber plantation during hot pursuit operation.
Recovered from the suspects were a hand grenade, a 12-gauge improvised shotgun, a caliber .22 firearm, a homemade gun, an air rifle converted to caliber .22 rifle, and two caliber .38 revolvers.
The Bukidnon Police Provincial Office (PPO) lauded the wounded officers for their bravery.
“I acknowledge the heroism of the wounded officers who, despite being under direct fire, demonstrated unwavering commitment to their duty and ensured the safety of their personnel and their swift action resulted in the arrest of three suspects. Their dedication to serving the protecting the community is a testament to their resilience and strength,” Bukidnon PPO Director, Col. Jovit Culaway, said.
